About Me
Hi, I’m Nita Sharma. A retired product management leader with over 25 years of experience in global e-commerce and supply chain innovation for large multinational companies. I continue to represent the United States as an expert member of the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) for over two decades. My journey into dementia advocacy began at home, when my father was diagnosed with dementia in 2014. I walked alongside him through each stage and supporting my mother as the primary caregiver, an experience shaped by my family history of familial dementia. It taught me about the heartbreak, resilience, and love that caregiving requires. Even as memory fades, the essence of a person their dignity, spirit, and capacity to love remains.
Because my caregiving journey spanned both India and the U.S., I bring an international perspective to dementia care. I’ve learned how cultural, emotional, and practical factors shape the way families experience this journey, and I’m passionate about helping others feel less alone.
I wrote Hold My Hand As The Memory Fades to honor my father’s legacy and to share the lessons, resources, and hope I wish we’d had at the beginning. My mission is to empower caregivers with compassion, clarity, and community.
I serve as a facilitator for Alzheimer’s Association support groups. Along the way, I’ve collaborated with the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India, Calcutta chapter as well as built care management solutions for them. Besides volunteered with other organizations that strengthen families and communities worldwide
At heart, I’m simply a daughter who walked this path and now want to walk it alongside you.
